Issue 80 | Best Practices Post Facial
Best Practices Post Facial
There’s nothing like that fresh facial glow — smooth texture, relaxed muscles, hydrated skin that feels brand new. But the work doesn’t stop when you leave the treatment room.
The next few days your skin is beginning to rebuild — strengthening the barrier, rebalancing oil flow, and fully absorbing everything we’ve infused during your treatment.
Here’s how to protect your investment, extend your results, and help your skin stay in that “just‑had‑a‑facial” phase as long as possible.
1. Keep It Gentle for the First 48 Hours
Your skin is freshly exfoliated, hydrated, and more receptive than usual. Give it space to recover and rebalance.
💧 Do:
-
Stay consistent with a gentle, hydrating routine
-
Use cool or lukewarm water only
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure
🚫 Don’t:
-
Use scrubs, acids, retinol, or exfoliating pads
-
Pick or touch your skin — even if you had extractions
-
Add new actives to your routine
2. Prioritize Hydration
Water loss is common after deep exfoliation or stimulation, and hydrated skin heals and functions better.
✅ Mist with Hydrate Facial Mist or Barrier Pro Serum Spray throughout the day
✅ Apply a rich, soothing cream AM + PM
✅ Drink plenty of water — internal hydration shows externally
3. SPF Isn’t Optional
Newly revealed skin is extra sensitive to sunlight. Even short indoor exposure can lead to irritation or pigmentation.
Use Colorescience Classic Face Shield SPF 50 every morning — and reapply if you’re outside or near windows. This mineral sunscreen protects against UVA, UVB, and visible light without clogging pores or irritating freshly treated skin.
4. Avoid Heat, Sweat, and Steam (for Now)
Your skin is in restoration mode. For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:
-
Intense workouts
-
Saunas or steam rooms
-
Hot showers or baths
Heat increases inflammation and can interrupt the recovery process. Let the cooling, calm benefits of your treatment settle in undisturbed.
5. Wait to Exfoliate
It’s tempting to keep the glow going, but resist the urge to exfoliate too soon. Most skins only need light exfoliation 3–5 days after a professional facial. Your esthetician will always tell you when it’s safe to resume actives like acids, retinol, or scrubs.
When it’s time, we’ll guide you on which formulas fit your home routine — gentle, effective, and barrier‑friendly.
6. Follow Your Esthetician’s Plan
Every treatment is customized — meaning aftercare shouldn’t be one‑size‑fits‑all either. We’ve considered your skin type, lifestyle, and current goals, and any instructions we share are designed just for you. If you’re ever unsure, message us or stop in — we’d rather you ask than guess.
7. Schedule Regular Maintenance
Facial results are cumulative — each session builds on the last.
For most guests, we recommend booking every 3–6 weeks to maintain balance, manage congestion, and keep that consistent healthy glow.
Pairing consistent professional care with a smart at‑home routine is what turns good skin into great skin.
Questions about what your skin needs next? Your esthetician can help you build a custom routine that keeps your results lasting long after your appointment.
